ABOUT THE SHOW…

~

The Jo Maxwell Show was launched in September 2017 by the Host and Executive Producer Jo Maxwell, to showcase some of the most inspiring and amazing black women living and working in the United Kingdom and diaspora. The show provides an avenue for black women to discuss their success stories as well as life’s challenges in order to inspire and empower others.

Demystifying certain controversial topics that women find reluctant to talk about often because there are no appropriate channels to express these views, or for fear of stigmatization which is often common within the black community.

~

Listening to a woman share her experience on raising a child with special needs, discussing domestic abuse experience or hearing another discuss how she has been able to achieve a successful work-life balance for instance; may help another woman deal with her own personal issues and equip her to make decisions that will positively impact her circumstances.

~

Although the show is about inspiring black women who live and work in the UK, it also aims to impact women in other parts of the world.~

The show originally launched as a digital show and was quickly picked up by the largest Black Television channels in the U.K. Vox Africa, FAME TV channel to name a few.

FUN, LAUGHTER, REAL CONVERSATIONS…

A tad bit about me……

I am very passionate about seeing people from the black community succeed in their personal lives, careers and businesses. Being a black person in the UK comes with its many challenges and to break the stereotypes and glass ceilings placed over us either by our own mindset or by society is incredible. I call it, BREAKING IT AND MAKING IT, AGAINST ALL ODDS.

~

I have naturally found myself in many ways being the chief encourager to friends and family, pushing everyone around me to stretch and to find success beyond their perceived limits. Rather than encourage the regular school of thought which teaches us to think out of the box, I often remind women in my circle of influence that “there is really no box to think out of and that there are no limits to their potential”.

~

It is important that I channel my passion and gift positively by creating a safe space where we can all be ourselves and discuss topics that are pertinent to us as a black community.

~

Channelling my energy positively and to the right place was also as a result of rarely seeing black women and men on TV who reflected the positive success stories that I am surrounded by within my network, as well as some often seen but never told by the media.

I am also heavily involved in many other missions that helps Black women amplify their voices, one which is The PEP Network, which I founded back in 2017 to help connect, inspire and empower Black Women, click here to find out more.

When I am not busy working, I love spending time with my 3 amazing children and very supportive husband. I also enjoy travelling, socialising and having fun and I often say I have one guilty pleasure, which is catching up on reality shows when I need to really relax my mind and have a good time. Name any Real Housewives reality show, I have seen them all..
